Services
We offer very specialized telehealth mental health services, reflecting the expertise of Dr. Novick. Our approaches are firmly rooted in the scientific literature and follow clinical practice guidelines. Our concentrated focus ensures our services align with best clinical practices and evolve to incorporate new scientific knowledge and insights.
We work with individuals over the age of 18. We do not accept insurance.
Evaluation and Assessment
We offer evidence-based Differential Diagnostic Evaluations and Reproductive Mental Health Assessments to support individuals in understanding their mental health experiences and related treatment needs.
Differential Diagnostic Evaluations are thorough assessments that help clarify or diagnose (i.e., label) mental health experiences. We specialize in evaluating risk for or experiences of recurrent mood disorders, including bipolar disorders.
Reproductive Mental Health Assessments are designed to support individuals and their healthcare providers in identifying and addressing potential mental health needs before, during, or following pregnancy, especially with the management of mood disorders.
What to Expect
Evaluations and Assessments are typically conducted over two 60-minute virtual sessions, often occurring back to back. These sessions include a clinical interview, questionnaires (completed by you outside of the sessions), and, when relevant, a review of your medical records. We gather information to create a comprehensive and nuanced understanding of you and your mental health experiences. We then meet for a third 60-minute virtual session where we discuss our results with you, answer questions, and provide treatment recommendations, which may include psychotherapy with us.
Psychotherapy
We offer two evidence-based individual psychotherapies: Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) and Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy (IPSRT).
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) focuses on the connection between mental health and interpersonal life events. It helps individuals navigate life changes, relationship conflicts, grief (related to another person's death), and loneliness. Through IPT, individuals learn about their mental health, cope with and adapt to life events, and reduce interpersonal distress.
Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy (IPSRT) is an integrated approach that combines IPT with Social Rhythm Therapy (SRT). SRT focuses on creating and maintaining regular daily routines to support overall well-being. Life events — big or small, positive or negative, expected or unexpected — can disrupt these routines and destabilize the body's circadian rhythms, such as the sleep-wake cycle. For some, these disruptions can trigger or worsen mental health symptoms. By focusing on creating and stabilizing rhythms and improving interpersonal relationships, IPSRT helps individuals find balance and health. This therapy is particularly effective for those with recurrent depression or bipolar disorder.
What to Expect
We begin with a Psychotherapy Intake Session lasting about 75 minutes. This session includes a clinical interview and questionnaires (completed by you before we meet). We also discuss our treatment recommendations, which may include psychotherapy with us.
The Psychotherapy Intake Assessment is a vital first step. It helps us determine if our services are a good match for your needs, while also giving you the chance to decide if our approach feels like the right fit for you.
While each psychotherapy plan is personalized, our standard approach for IPT and IPSRT typically involves 12 to 16 weekly or bi-weekly 55-minute virtual sessions over three to six months. For some individuals, after the initial course of treatment, ongoing support through monthly or quarterly virtual sessions is beneficial.
